CHAPEL OF UNITY - Rwanda Chapel Competition
The Chapel is a symbol of unity.
Connecting the two ethnic groups.
Connecting the locals with their land.
Connecting this life with the divine.
The earth with the sky.
A perimeter wall, made of clay bricks produced from local soil and fired on site, forms the
atrium, nave and presbytery.
A wooden canopy provides shelter, allowing the light and rain to come in the chapel
through atriums.
Combined the two elements create a sense of belonging to oneself but also being part of
something greater; of this fertile land that has allowed generations of Rwandans to have a
life here.
Combined the two elements form the Chapel of unity.
